UAB Arts in Medicine (AIM)
Team Members
The UAB AIM brings an integrated approach to the healing process that addresses the needs of the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. AIM offers the following activities at the bedside or in group workshops: storytelling, painting, hand-sewing/embroidery, relaxation/meditation, movement/dance, expressive writing & poetry, and personalized art projects.
Integrating the arts into the health care environment has been shown to benefit patients and caregivers in the following ways: Reduced stress levels, reduction in perceived pain, improved mood, distraction from medical problems, increased self-expression, and increased self-confidence.

Get Rhythm! Programs
John Scalici
Mr. Scalici facilitates high-energy, empowering, and experiential therapeutic drumming programs for all types of individuals and groups. His passion lies in empowering others through an interactive rhythm experience.
Mr. Scalici’s approach to drum circle facilitation emphasizes creating a supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging participants to express themselves freely. He has worked with organizations, schools, and communities worldwide, promoting the benefits of group drumming for physical and mental well-being.

Frannie James leads sessions on chair yoga and the practice of mindfulness. Ms. James tailors your needs and abilities with Chair Yoga for every body to enhance your overall well-being.

Bitty’s Living Kitchen
Chef Kimberly McNair Brock
Chef Kimberly Brock’s approach to community engagement is designed to help guide those seeking healing on a path of harvesting healthy habits. Her chef demonstrations help individuals become more aware of how to reverse their palates and how simple techniques can be executed at home showing how one can ultimately heal through food.

The Learning Campus at Gulf State Park

The Learning Campus Team has partnered with us in Gulf Shores, AL, to bring our retreats to the Southern part of the state. They have offered multiple classes involving nature for our health and wellness opportunities and offer another gorgeous space for our retreats.
The Learning Campus provides an opportunity for learning through immersive programming and hands-on experiences to connect with the natural and cultural heritage of the park. They hope to inspire visitors to live well and in harmony with the world around them. The Learning Campus offers an educational basecamp for visiting school groups, post-secondary students, teachers, researchers, scout troops, adult learners, and other nature enthusiasts.

The Glow Yoga team helps individuals cultivate awareness of the physical body and breath through mindfulness, gentle yoga, and meditation. They teach simple practices to prioritize self-care for improved well-being.

New Water Farms

The New Water Farms team has partnered with us since our first retreat. They participate in offering health and wellness opportunities and offer a gorgeous space for our retreats.
New Water Farms is a 22-acre working farm and event facility that creates both experiences and activities to cultivate spiritual growth and renewal. Located in Dadeville, Alabama, on the shores of Lake Martin, New Water utilizes three practices in fulfilling our mission: Teaching, training, and transforming.

Hoop for Fitness

Robbie Lewis, with Hoop for Fitness, uses weighted, adult-sized fitness hoops to help people feel like a kid again, while getting their heart rate up and having fun at the same time. A unique experience!

The Well Jar

Mrs. Lathan teaches why “eating the rainbow” is so beneficial to our health! Plant based foods help protect our cells, offer immune support, reduce inflammation, increase our cardiovascular health and importantly support our cognitive function.
The Well Jar is a group of healthcare providers dedicated to improving lives through proactive health management and education. They believe our bodies are vessels and should be filled with all good things!
